The Hawke XB30 Zoom FFP is designed to let the shooter use the full 2x to 8x magnification range while maintaining the correct distance references on the XB30 Zoom FFP reticle. Its first focal plane optical system changes the apparent size of the reticle with magnification, allowing the distance markers to remain correctly scaled instead of requiring the magnification setting to remain fixed for crossbow speed calibration. The scope is calibrated for crossbows from 425 to 465 fps and uses a 30 mm tube with a 36 mm objective lens. The reticle offers five illumination levels in red and green through a stepped rheostat, while the optical system uses 21-layer fully multi-coated lenses. Parallax is fixed at 50 yds, and elevation and windage adjustments use capped, low-profile, resettable turrets with 1/2 MOA click values and up to 120 MOA of adjustment. A fast-focus ocular and knurled Posi-Grip power selector complete the adjustment system.
