Measuring from the bullet tip can produce varying results because bullet tips are not always uniform, while the ogive offers a more dependable reference for cartridge comparison. The comparator body attaches to the blade of a caliper, and the included interchangeable inserts allow the tool to be adapted to different bullet diameters. Reloaders can use the set to compare completed cartridges, check bullet uniformity from the base to the ogive and make precise adjustments to a bullet seating die. It can also be used with an O.A.L. Gauge when establishing a selected bullet jump.
